Troubleshoot ARK Server Lag

If your ARK server is lagging, these are the most common causes and how to fix them.

Configuration settings

Multipliers set too high. Very large multiplier values can hurt server performance. Bring them back closer to the defaults.

Auto-save running too often. A save period lower than the default 15 minutes can reduce performance. Raise it closer to the default, and save manually when you need to with the admin / RCON command admincheat SaveWorld.

Dino Count Multiplier too high. More dinos means the CPU has far more to process. Lower the Dino Count Multiplier to ease the load.

Mods

Heavy or poorly-optimized mods. Some mods noticeably reduce performance. Remove mods one at a time to find the culprit, re-add the ones that are fine, and permanently remove any that hurt performance.
